Becoming a Mom in 2018 solidified my passion for wanting to be a birth worker and to support and coach other birthing people during labor and delivery.  Having a trained professional who’s compassionate about birth and about the person birthing is a gift!  A doula can not only support the birthing person but they can support the birthing partner.  Whether that be the spouse, partner, best friends, parent; a doula can help them to focus and provide the best support possible to their loved one.

When I became pregnant in 2017, I was ready to do all the things.  I was so eager to learn about everything that was happening to my body and the baby growing inside of me.  It was during a birth class that everything aligned and I looked at my partner and said “I’m going to be a doula.” To which he replied “OK!” I flew down to Seattle to attend a DONA (Doulas of North America) Certified doula course when I was 28-weeks pregnant.  After my bean arrived in July 2018, I was even more pumped about life as a doula but I also needed to stay home with my kiddo.  My first birth was in January 2019, followed closely by my second, then third…and so on.  I am a fully certified doula with DONA.

I will care for you, your baby, and your partner too, as if you were my own family.  I have the knowledge, the composure, and the focus to help you have a birth that you will look back on with fond memories and love!

The first baby I ever doula-ed into the world just turned 12! Numerous families have invited me into their births since then, and each relationship with a birthing mama and her loved ones has been a deep honor.

My goal is to let mamas shine as the strong and unique women they are, in birth and every day. As a doula, I work to help mamas and their partners understand the birth process and make choices that feel right for them in the birth of their baby and postpartum period. My most important tools are my heart, hands, and experience - to give comfort and support throughout a mama and her partner's birth journey.

I am trained as a doula through Carrie Kenner with DONA International, as well as with Birth Arts International and Birthing from Within. I have studied rebozo use for positioning and comfort, and special support for women with trauma histories.

I grew up in Juneau, Alaska. I moved to Rotterdam, Netherlands while my husband attended grad school. When we returned to Alaska we decided it was time to extend our family. Like many in my field my interest sparked when I had my daughter in 2012. I had an amazing doula for her birth and I knew that someday I wanted to become doula.
In spring 2015 I attended a DONA certified birth and postpartum doula training by Carrie Kenner. I also attend an intensive breastfeeding class by Carrie Kenner.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my best friend and husband, Jonathan, and our two young children, Ella and Ocean. I am always excited to talk about birth and breastfeeding. I hope to become certified as a lactation educator and assist with breastfeeding as well as birth and postpartum doula work.

Hi! My name is Danielle Redmond. I recently completed the doula training and breastfeeding course to become certified with DONA International. I also have a Master’s degree in which my research focused on the anthropology of birth in Alaska.

…More importantly, I’m a mom! And I have a passion for the huge, intense, beautiful change that is birth. I want all families to have the healthiest, happiest birth they can – whatever that looks like for them.
